A Difference of Opinion | You Don’t Have to Agree to Learn

If there's one skill I'm proud to possess, it's this:
The willingness to look beyond a difference of opinion and stay open to learning from people I disagree with.

We spend so much time living in our own echo chambers, surrounded by others who share our beliefs and ideals. We put up filters and shields to repel those who don't fit our mold.

One disagreement, one unaligned value, and people discredit a lifetime of experience.

As if people erase someone's entire worth based on their politics, their past, or the body they were born into.

So incase you need a reminder:

• You can disagree with someone's values and still learn from their experience.
• You can reject someone's worldview and still find value in their story.
• You can explore someone's ideas… without becoming them.

If we're not willing to look past the messenger, we may miss the message.
And sometimes, one insight is all it takes to change everything.

Even the people you don't agree with might have something to teach you.
