I Spent 10 Hours Editing a 25-Second Reel.
Nothing humbles you like learning a new skill. Especially when you bite off more than you can chew.
Recently, I've been reminded why some people might refuse to learn something completely new.
It's hard. Actually... it's bloody hard.
Spending hours on something that others can do in minutes is demoralising.
It makes you question if this is even for you.
If your time would be better spent elsewhere.
If you're even cut out for this.
But this time, I was lucky enough to be ready for the suck.
I've been here before.
Somewhere in those 10 long hours of editing, amongst the software crashes and fresh starts, I was reminded of my journey of learning to code.
The weekends I spent banging my head against the keyboard, trying to make the simple thingss…
Just.
Fucking.
Work.
(Apologies, the flames of frustration still burn brightly after all these years.)
But those memories? Were strangely comforting.
Because they reminded me:
The suck doesn't last forever. It's just part of the process.
Along the way, things will start to click.
The patterns will reveal themselves.
And those things that once perplexed you will become second nature.
This is what learning a new skill looks like.
It's how new skillsets are built and how passions are born.
It's the first step in forging a new career path.
