What a difference five months can make. Since leaving New Zealand earlier this year, my life has been turned upside down.
The version of Matthew who once sought purpose in his IT career, who was madly in love, and who found comfort in the familiarity of home is a distant memory.
Don't get me wrong, at my core, I am still the same guy I was, I've just been placed into the pressure cooker of life and been forced to grow a bit faster than I was expecting.
Now, as I sit here and reflect on the stress, the excitement, the unknown, the friendships forged,
the emotional isolation, the laughter, and the tears of the last five months, I am reminded of how much I have grown and how much growth still lies ahead of me.
This blog is dedicated to my continued pursuit of growth and to the endless work in progress that is Matthew.
This blog will serve as a platform for sharing the insights I learn along the way. My hope is that you can gain some perspective from my journey, or at the very least, enjoy a moment of inspiration or laughter at my expense.
One of my core life philosophies is to strive toward the "best version" of myself through continuous learning and self-improvement.
But the not-so-secret truth is, there is no final "best version" of me and there's no end goal.
Being the "best version" of myself is an ever-shifting target, a lifelong pursuit towards an ultimately unattainable ideal.
I see myself as an endless work in progress and will forever be Becoming Matthew.
I will aim to post 1-2 times per week, diving into lessons and experiences that have made an impact on my thirty years on this planet as well as those yet to come.
Focusing on personal philosophies, navigating a career change, interesting things I learn along the way, and hopefully a few funny stories for you to laugh at.
